Abstract
This paper shows a study performed to analyze the maturity levels in knowledge management (KM) in one small business in south of Brazil, which act in an intensive knowledge sector. To carry out the study, was used the exploratory research method from the instrument application to diagnosis the KM maturity developed by Asian Productivity Organization - APO. Through the application of this instrument, it was possible to analyze the seven criteria/dimensions, which is: (i) leadership, (ii) process, (iii) people, (iv) technology, (v) knowledge process, (vi) learning and innovation, and (vii) outcomes. These analyzes allowed to classify the KM maturity level of the enterprise at level 3. This means that the enterprise recognizes the importance to manage the knowledge and its role to enhance the productivity and competitive advantage. The APO model used in this study provides the main elements to do an analysis of the necessary points to reach higher levels of KM in the organization. Future researches can use the same model to perform comparative studies between companies with different technical features and quantitative studies with representative samples of one or more sectors.
